Split Pea and Ham

1 lb. dry green or yelow split peas (16 oz) 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
2 Litres water
1 lb. Ham Bone 1 green pepper
2 Carrots, diced 1/2 cup celery, diced
1 teaspoon salt salt and pepper to taste
Combine first 6 ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer 45-60 minutes, covered, until peas are tender. Remoe ha bone. Cut off and dice meat. Stir in meat and vegetables. Simmer 15-20 min. until vegetables are done. Season to taste.
