The imagery of the 60 foot long, painted scroll, links ambiguous subject matter to provoke memory and suggest meanings that are more visceral than logical. The sequence of six panels (5 feet w. x 10 feet l.) follow - abstractly - the spirit of Boethius' text in a progression of increasing sociological disembodiment, using the foot as concrete metaphor for body and soul. In sequence, the 6 panels ('SENSATION', 'LÉPREUSE', 'COMMUN', 'NATURE', 'ISOLEMENT', and "pour moi, je retire ma pieds") progress from Edenic closeness to nature towards an increasing isolation even from nature, a virtual reality in which humanity retains only a nostalgic icon of its physical existence. | ||
