The Genesis Series (1995-96) drawings and paintings were the result of my working with a wonderful artist named Julius Tobias, who tried to make me see space on an empty wall, who spent the final years of his career painting black, hoping to reach the forgiveness of brown. I produced mountains of work on paper in Genesis I, trying to reach anything at all and finished with Genesis II - two works on canvas that were my first paintings in Montréal.
