Bake at 350 F. for 35 - 40 min. in square pan

Note: a lighter, maybe a little heathier, version of brownies with a rich moist flavour |
INGREDIENTS: |

1/2 cup shortening
2 squares unsweetend bakers chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla
|
|
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 c. nuts
|

|
Melt shortening and chocolate. Blend in sugar, eggs, appplesauce and vanilla. Stir dry ingredients together. Blend into shortening mix. Spread in Greased and floured pan. Bake. |
